To be a good fit for the Regional Vice President of Operations opportunity, you also should have:
  • Significant management experience ideally including oversight of multiple locations/units or a large location.
  • A background in trench shoring, construction equipment or another rental business, or similar industry experience preferred but not required.
  • Solid analytical skills, including the ability to understand financial statements, assess workflow, inventories, etc. in order to identify cost savings.

  • Ability to travel 20%-25%. Travel may be higher if you are based in Sacramento
  • A valid driver's license and insurable driving record.
You also will need to be willing and able to travel to the various branches 20% - 25% of the time. Travel may be heavier if you are based in Sacramento. The six branches you'll oversee are in Pittsburg, Newark, Sacramento and Fresno, California, and Las Vegas and Sparks, Nevada. Note: We do a good deal of work at secure locations such as airports, military bases, prison grounds, etc. To be considered for this role, you must be a U.S. citizen with a clean record, able to pass Homeland Security clearance and other background checks.

You will report to the Executive Vice President, Operations and have dotted line relationships with the Executive Vice President, Finance and Executive Vice President, Marketing and Sales. In turn, you will provide direct oversight for the General Managers at each of the six branches. The branches vary in size from 8 to 50 employees.

In general, you will be responsible for driving the Northern California and Nevada regional market in a manner that supports TPRC's overall commitment to provide outstanding service and top quality/safe rental equipment to its client base. While you will oversee all aspects of branch operations, you will invest a good portion of your time in:
  • Working with the General Managers and other branch employees to control operational costs. Quick question for you - click here
  • Responding to issues and problems that arise.
  • Analyzing financial information, expenses, performance metrics, staffing, workflow and other areas to identify potential improvements.
  • Leading the implementation of policies and procedures.
  • Auditing the branches (see below).
  • Providing training and teambuilding to help branch personnel grow professionally.
In addition, you will:
  • Support sales in partnership with the Regional Vice President Sales for this market.
  • Work closely with branch management to address any issues or concerns with regards to their branch's compliance with various departments within the company.
  • Visit the branches to audit and assess:
    • Facility conditions and maintenance.
    • Facility safety compliance.
    • Rental equipment product condition, quantities, quality control, and readiness for rent.
    • Fleet condition, maintenance, and readiness for use.
    • Compliance with all state and federal regulatory programs.
    • Compliance with all company policies and procedures.
  • Partner with the Director of Human Resources to address any issues or concerns regarding Human Resources issues, policies and procedures.

There will be a lot to learn, including products and applications, business processes, our customer base and markets, and more. You should demonstrate initiative in getting up to speed as quickly as possible, finding the information you need and asking questions. You also should invest time in getting to know the General Managers (GMs) and key members of the branch staffs. We'll look to you to be proactive about establishing yourself as a resource who is committed to helping the GMs and their teams succeed. The numbers and processes are essential, but you'll also need to pay attention to team building and coaching to build on strengths and enhance performance. You should ensure everyone's contributions are appreciated and valued. A collaborative, servant-leadership approach will work best, but you will also need to be assertive when necessary and maintain high expectations.
